What happened?

On Wednesday, March 31st from 6-8 PM community members joined South Whitehall Township staff, elected officials, and the Lehigh Valley Planning Commission (LVPC) to learn more about Phase 4 of the Comprehensive Plan Update. Facilitated by planning consultant Michael Baker International, the Phase 4 Kickoff Meeting introduced the five Comprehensive Plan Working Groups which reflect the required Plan Elements from the PA Municipalities Planning Code (MPC): Housing; Transportation; Resource Protection; Community Facilities; and Community Utilities.

What was discussed?

South Whitehall staff introduced Phase 4 of the Comprehensive Update and reviewed work to date. LVPC staff engaged as Subject Matter Experts on the five Comprehensive Plan topics, providing brief presentations on existing conditions and how the topics fit into the regional context. What’s next?

The focus of the March 31st Phase 4 Kickoff Meeting was to generate community interest to participate in the Phase 4 Working Groups: Housing; Transportation; Resource Protection; Community Facilities; and Community Utilities. The Working Groups will meet all together and by topic area to assess existing conditions, evaluate data and future scenarios, and build out recommendations for the Comprehensive Plan Update.
