Existing Conditions & Guiding Principles

The first series of swt comprehensive plan update meetings have been scheduled and will be facilitated by Thomas Comitta and Associates. This series of meetings will present data points detailing changes since the 2009 Comprehensive Plan. Additionally, the meetings will distill the 2009 Comprehensive Plan Goals and comments received into several Guiding Principles. These Guiding Principles will be utilized throughout the remaining planning process. All meetings will be held at Parkland High School located at 2700 Cedar Crest Boulevard, Allentown.

The meetings begin with a joint workshop with the Board of Commissioners and the Planning Commission on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at 6:00 pm. The purpose of the meeting is to update both Boards on the status of the South Whitehall Township Comprehensive Plan Update and to conduct interactive exercises designed to solicit and collect responses from both Boards as to the general preferences of the Boards with regard to the future development of South Whitehall Township, and to conduct any other business which may come before the Boards.

The second meeting will be a public outreach meeting on July 16, 2019, time TBD. The purpose of which is to gather public comments and insight related to Guiding Principles for the comprehensive plan update. The meeting will include interactive exercises to aid in gathering input from local stakeholders.

The meeting series concludes with another joint workshop meeting on July 30, 2019, time TBD. This meeting will present findings from the previous meetings and develop Guiding Principles for the remainder of the comprehensive plan update process.

Feedback on the Guiding Principles will be gather throughout the summer at various public events. Stay tuned fro additional information on these public events.
